JACKALS

On a sunny afternoon in Vienna, Emma Eckstein went to see a doctor.

You won’t have heard of her.

But the doctor’s name was Sigmund Freud.

Based on astounding true events, Jackals explores the unsettling professional relationship between a young, ambitious woman named Emma Eckstein and her fledgling doctor with a point to prove.

Fusing text, hypnotic choreography, original composition, and live art, this contemporary retelling follows Emma’s course of treatment as their infatuation with each other grows ever more entangled, chaotic, and dangerous. In paying respects to a woman sacrificed at the altar of male genius, Jackals vividly reimagines the best protected scandal in the history of psychoanalysis.
